A team member of Top Gun Applied Surfaces comes to your home and restores your bathtub to its original state. We do this by resurfacing or refinishing the surface of the tub…and we’re really good at it, top of our game you might say! That’s how we got our name!
If your bathtub is damaged or warn out, it takes less than a day to recreate its original beauty. Even if the tub isn’t your preferred color, we can completely change its color by using a resurfacing technique!
Utilizing our professional tub restoration services is a low cost solution to your bathroom remodel. We will save you thousands of dollars in demolition mess and costly replacement procedures that could take weeks or months to complete. And you even have to hire a plumber!
Our clients include both commercial and residential properties that encompass residential homes, apartment complexes (complete renovations), hotels and mobile homes.
Reglazing, or refinishing, a worn-out bathtub is an intensive process that really should only be carried out by a seasoned professional. While you can easily obtain chemicals and kits at your local Home Depot, the resurfacing task is anything but easy. Your bathroom is transformed into a spray booth for several hours. An array of chemicals are used in the reglazing process to restore existing tub and tile to an original or new state. After masking off the surrounding areas and properly ventilating the bathroom, the caulk is removed and the area sprayed down with a dissolving agent that removes any remaining caulk and etches the surface so the new finish will take.
After the surface cleaned, the new caulk is added and then the tub and caulk are dried. Fast-drying epoxy is then sprayed onto the surface of the tub with a minimum of two coats. The bathtub is cleaned again with a tack cloth to remove any elements like dust that should not be there. The tub is then coated with a polyurethane finish. Several layers of this finishing technique are added with surface sanding in between each coat. Lastly, the tub is polished and given a fresh new look.
The time-frame can take 4-6 hours, but is really dependent on the the condition of the tub prior to the restoration process. The tub need a solid 24 hours to cure before being used. This simply means that you can’t use it or run the water in the tub for a full day after the refinish.
Your “new tub” will realistically last 5-10 years. The length of time really is dependent upon how often the tub is used. If it’s a shared family tub in a hallway bathroom it will get lots more uses than a tub in a master bathroom that’s only used by one or two people.
It’s probably quite a bit less than you would imagine. Shoot us an email or give us a call and we will give you a free estimate. We can furnish references upon request as well.
We are a full service company with a workforce of over 15 years of experience. Our specialty is in bathtub and tile refinishing, though we also do countertop and cabinet resurfacing.
Replacing a bathtub or tile is expensive. It is very difficult to remove an old tub or rip out existing tile. Replacement costs usually include a licensed plumber, which may have you replacing your plumbing if it’s not to code. You will have a serious mess to clean and it takes time to do a proper replacement.
When the decision is made to resurface your bathtub rather than replace it, the time spent on a resurfacing project is less than one day! The cleanup takes just moments as the mess is very little. And the very best part is it’s just a fraction of the cost when comparing resurfacing to replacing an entire bathtub or wall of tiles. A refinished bathtub is the quick fix that will last for years.

Atlanta is a fast rising city with amazing culture, entertainment, restaurants and activities. This means housing is on the rise as well. There are many new homes being built which means the older homes need updating in order to be competitive with these new structures. Bathtub refinishing, as well as tile, cabinet and countertop resurfacing have become the latest trend in updates to kitchens and bathrooms. It is easier and less costly than replacing old fixtures such as a bathtub or kitchen cabinets and counters. Refinishing rather than replacing is an easy cosmetic fix that gives new life to old fixtures. Most often, it isn’t necessary to rip out that old sunshine yellow bathtub. If the tub is structurally sound with only minor scratches and/or chips, then bathtub refinishing is the answer. Changing that outdated color to a current, trendy one is often times the only thing that needs to be done to create an entirely new bathroom.
Surround tile in your bathroom can be refinished as well as the bathtub to create an entirely new look. Next up, why not take that matching sunshine yellow sink and vanity top and spruce that up as well? Making everything gleaming white creates a blank canvas and potential buyers can envision all of their belongings in the space.
The kitchen is another room that is extremely important to have updated and on trend so that potential buyers are motivated to buy your house full of character instead of a brand new build. Often after we have been in our homes for a long period, we start to look for ways to bring back the freshness. Like most of us you probably spend a lot of time in the kitchen, because of this, this is the area you will probably want to freshen up. The first thing you may have thought about is to paint, then to add some accessories to spruce it up. The next thing that will probably pop out at you after painting is that your kitchen cabinets are not up to par. True there are a lot of beautiful new cabinetry out there and some inexpensive, but before you start replacing, why don’t you try cleaning and restoring first to bring life back into your kitchen.
The reason why cabinets begin to look dull after awhile is because of all the cooking activity going on in the kitchen. They tend to hold onto all of the smoke, grease and food particles floating around in the air. Though we generally clean the kitchen everyday, the cabinets often go over-looked for months, even years at a time.
Cleaning your wood cabinets can restore that brilliance you seek in your newly painted kitchen. A simple solution of one-part soap or even dishwashing detergent can be used to clean cabinets. Make sure you are using a grease cutting dishwashing liquid. Wood cleaners can also be purchased from your local supermarket. Some all-purpose household cleaning solutions may be suitable for cleaning as well. Make sure you read the label carefully to insure that your wood surface will not become damaged by the use of that particular product. If you prefer not to use a chemical base cleaner, try a natural cleaner such as vinegar. Straight vinegar can be used to clean a heavy build up, if it just to touch up cabinets, mix half vinegar with half water. A baking soda paste is also a good natural cleaner. A natural cleaner for wood cabinets that you might not ever think of using is a mixture of club soda and lemon juice.
You may prefer to paint your cabinets a totally different color to give you that new fresh look that your are seeking. Cabinets can be painted but must be properly prepped before doing so or paint will not hold. After washing or cleaning cabinets.
1. Apply a water based latex primer with adhesion properties
2. Allow primer to dry overnight
3. The next day lightly sand down the cabinets
4. Apply at least one finishing coat of paint, two is better – for easy clean up and less order choose a latex based enamel, latex based enamel is not as durable as a solvent. When choosing a solvent-based paint, remember that the higher the gloss the tougher the finish will be.
Because of painting in an enclosed space, ALWAYS remember to have adequate ventilation circulating fresh air into the room. You want a beautiful new look to your cabinets but not at the expense of you own safety. A tip for getting paint off of your skin easily is to use a hand cream to base your skin before painting.
Sprucing up your cabinets will not only give you the look but also the feel of a fresh new kitchen. Now get busy cooking and inviting friends and family over to enjoy a good meal and your fresh new kitchen.
While planning a bathroom remodel, it’s very important that you start with a plan and follow it very precisely. After all, it’s going to take some planning and some time. You want to make sure your remodel turns out beautifully. However, the task can be a little overwhelming at times. If you’re interested in helpful information that can help you as you plan and carry out your bathroom remodel, more than likely you’ve read many on what you are supposed to do. Well, here are some important bathroom remodeling tips on mistakes that you need to avoid so you are sure the remodel turns out the way you want it to.
Tip #1- Have a Plan Don’t Wing It Many people seem to think that remodeling a bathroom is going to be easy. Nothing is as easy as it first might seem. There are many things to consider and just winging it is not going to cut it. You’ll have to make sure that the fixture you choose fit, that the plumbing is done right, and you need to come up with a good layout for the bathroom. This is not something that you can do on the fly. Take the time to actually plan out your bathroom remodel for the best results. This way you don’t end up having to go back and do things over again.
Tip #2 – Don’t Buy Without Research and Comparison Shopping Another mistake that you need to avoid is purchasing without doing research or doing some comparison shopping. After all, you don’t want to just purchase the first things you see when you are shopping for your bathroom. One of the best bathroom remodeling tips that you can keep in mind is to spend time considering various options and looking for a great deal. Take the time to get online to look at bathroom furnishings that are available. It makes it easy to shop and compare various options that you have. You’ll also want to spend some time looking for the best possible price. Comparison shop at various websites and stores to see where you can get the best deal on the products that you want for your bathroom remodel. This way you get what you want and you still save money too.
Tip #3 – Don’t Do it Yourself if You’re Not Skilled If you are not skilled in the area of plumbing or remodeling, then don’t try it yourself. You’ll end up costing yourself a whole lot more money if you try doing this when you don’t have the skills that you need. Home improvement and bathroom remodeling projects involve more than just changing out some old fixtures. Often plumbing is going to be required, and unless you really know what you are doing, you are better off to leave this work to a professional. While there are simple remodeling tasks that you can probably take care of on your own, if you are not sure how to do it and you don’t have the needed skills, don’t try doing it yourself. The money you spend on a contractor will be worth it and will save you time and agony.
Tip #4 – Don’t Start Without Figuring Out Your Budget Make sure you have a firm budget before you start any bathroom remodeling job. Many people make this mistake and end up spending far more than they wanted to on the project. It’s better to first sit down and figure out how much money you have to spend on the remodeling project. Then you can work with supplies and fixtures that fit into your budget. You don’t want to end up breaking the bank when remodeling your bathroom, so make sure you have a budget in mind before you start.
Tip #5 – Don’t Hire Just Any Contractor Last of all, when it comes to bathroom remodeling tips, another important mistake you need to avoid is hiring just any contractor. Need a contractor, then pick the best one you can find. Don’t hire the first person that you meet. You need to make sure that the contractor is qualified to do the job that you need done. It’s also important that you check to make sure that they are insured and licensed. Take the time to find out more about a contractor and check out his record and experience before deciding to make the hire.
Ceramic tiles come as glazed and unglazed types.
The glazed ceramic tiles are more popular because of many advantages like ease of cleaning, low or no maintenance and availability of unlimited varieties.
The major problem with ceramic tiles are that they can easily be scratched and crack if the wrong chemicals are used for cleaning.
Once the tile is scratched, it becomes difficult to clean as dirt goes into the scratches and cracks, and it shows.
Ceramic tiles cannot be easily replaced as the replacement tile would not have the same color shade and the replacement tile shows itself as an odd tile.
Soap scum can make the ceramic tile look bad.
To remove soap scum cover the area with laundry detergent and allow it to stand for several hours.
Rub with sponge and rinse clean with water. Resistant stains can be cleaned by scrubbing with brush.
Tri-sodium phosphate is also a good solution in removing soap scum.
Mildew develops, as the soap scum, high humidity, low air flow and low light conditions are ideal for formation and growth of mold and mildew. A quick application of chlorine bleach and elbow grease will make short work of it.
Mildew is a microorganism. Chlorine based solvents can be used to deal with this effectively.
This will also clean the grout since chlorine is a good oxidizing agent. Microorganisms are also oxidized by chlorine.
A white coat on the ceramic tiles is caused by hard water or minerals dissolved in the water.
The white coat on tiles is just calcium or lime from the water. Acid based tile cleaners are best for cleaning this, but be cautious and take precautions like using gloves and keeping the exhaust fan on. Do not use scouring powders to remove hard water on tiles.
Full strength vinegar (a mild acid) and elbow grease will help dissolve the hard water deposits.
Kitchen and bathroom ceramic floor tile is easily maintained clean by daily vacuuming and frequent washing.
